This week, we will talk about ways to protect your accounts:
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA) - adds an extra step to the login process and an extra layer of security to your accounts and devices. That way, if a cyber criminal ever gets your password, there’s another defense in place to stop them.
- Password managers - You can easily keep track of all your passwords by using a password manager: a password vault that stores all your usernames and passwords for different websites, apps and devices.
- Strong passwords and passphrases - We recommend that you use passphrases, as they are longer yet easier to remember than a password of random, mixed characters. A passphrase is a memorized phrase consisting of mixed words with or without spaces.
- Understanding credential stuffing - Use different passwords for each account and enable MFA where you can.
- Limiting the information you share online - The less personal info you share, the harder it is for hackers to use it against you. Keep details like your address, phone number, and birthdate private.
